Following graduation, Chef Burrell went on to spend one period of time in Italy attending the Italian Culinary Institute for Foreigners as well as working for La Taverna del Lupo in Umbria and La Bottega del 30 a one Michelin-starred restaurant located in Tuscany. While in Italy, Chef Burrell developed an appreciation for and knowledge of Italian food. It had a significant influence on her perception of food. Burrell was a part of the Garden of Dreams Foundation Advisory Board to brighten children's lives who are facing difficulties. She is also an Juvenile Research Foundation celebrity ambassador who promotes the awareness of juvenile diabetes. Burrell speaks on her culinary love and imparts her experiences in the food world, as she regularly goes on trips across the USA in various roles such as mentors and speakers. Anne declared that she felt fortunate to be able to be able to share her passion for cooking with the people around her.
